Mitchell Westra, the West Midlands Regional Coordinator for the People’s Vote Campaign, will be joining us to explain what we still need to do to achieve a People’s Vote with the option to Remain. Please come and join us to hear him and ask questions. This will also be an opportunity for us to communicate our concerns and desire to those in London who are driving the campaign forward.
The Saturday before polling day for the European Parliamentary elections we will be out in Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Oswestry with Brexitometers and leaflets to persuade people to vote for those parties that support a People’s Vote and wish the UK to remain in the European Union.
STOP PRESS: WE now have a second MEP Candidate coming tonight. Julia Buckley who is a candidate for Labour replaces Laura Davies
In order to have a discussion about these important elections (which will likely be viewed as a mini referendum on the UK’s current attitude towards Europe) we have invited representatives from the following UK Political Parties who have candidates in the West Midlands Constituency: Change UK, the Greens and the Liberal Democrats. They have all made a commitment to a Peoples Vote with the option of Remaining in the EU. We have also invited someone from the Labour Party.
We'll be able to explain the complexities of the particular voting system used in these elections and hope to be able to provide some advice on the way that tactical voting may affect the outcome. We hope to see you there.
To encourage voting in the upcoming European Parliamentary Elections as well as continuing to campaign for a People’s Vote we will be out and about with our Brexitometers in Shropshire. Please come and join us
The Cross Oswestry from 10 am to 2 pm
Mardol Head Shrewsbury from 11am to 2pm
The next chance to ask our local MP to explain his position on Brexit will be at this public meeting.
Having formerly supported a No Deal Brexit he has most recently swung behind the Withdrawal Agreement. He has resigned from the ERG and started attacking his former colleagues and blaming them for divisions within the Conservative Party. Having previously said that the Northern Ireland Backstop was completely unacceptable and would lead to the break-up of the United Kingdom, more recently he is now saying that the DUP do not represent the the majority opinion in Northern Ireland. However this does not mean that he has acknowledged that the majority in Northern Ireland actually voted to remain in 2016.

It would also be helpful if you could let us know if you will be coming and if you will be bringing someone else along so that we have some idea about numbers. emails please to email@example.com

We are contributing to the call from People’s Vote nationally for this Day of Action before the next important vote in Parliament on 29th Jan. We need to continue to demand a People’s Vote as the only way out of this mess.
Although there's an awful lot to play for between now and the new year, we think it's important to begin thinking seriously about the next stage of our campaign - a grass roots movement to fight for a significant remain majorityin a #PeoplesVote. To that end we're holding a workshop session to get your ideas on issues such as setting up more local groups(for example in Telford and Ludlow) and how to engage the youth vote.
Come and join us over a drink - we're keen to hear your ideas

David Wilkinson the Director will be present for a live Q&A after the showing
Postcards from the 48% (2018, 110 mins, cert E) is an enjoyable and thoughtful documentary tour of Britain which builds a pretty much unarguable case for persisting in trying to overturn Brexit.

As we approach the crucial vote in Parliament and our MPs are seeking their constituents opinions we think it is important to impress on them the lack of support for Mrs May’s Deal. Come and join us if you can.
We will also be encouraging Mr Kawczynski’s constituents to write postcards to him telling him that we did not vote for this deal in 2016.
Mr Kawcyznski is holding a public meeting to consult with his constituents. Please go along and explain how we need a People’s Vote. The Brexit that the Conservative Government is threatening to deliver is nothing like what the majority of people in Shrewsbury voted for in 2016. It will damage this country in both the short term and for future generations. Our work over the last two and a half years shows that Shrewsbury has changed its mind.
