At our next open meeting we'd like to discuss the idea that a People's Vote would be somehow undemocratic. If at all possible please bring a friend or neighbour along who still doesn't believe that putting the final decision back to the people is the best way forward.
It would also be helpful if you could let us know if you will be coming and if you will be bringing someone else along so that we have some idea about numbers. emails please to email@example.com
Our Brexitometers will be out this Saturday in Bishops Castle, for the first time and in Oswestry. If you cannot come to Stoke please drop in on either location and lend a hand.
Bishops Castle will be in Church Street, opposite the Co-op from 11am to 1pm
In Oswestry at the Cross from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm
We are contributing to the call from People’s Vote nationally for this Day of Action before the next important vote in Parliament on 29th Jan. We need to continue to demand a People’s Vote as the only way out of this mess.
Although there's an awful lot to play for between now and the new year, we think it's important to begin thinking seriously about the next stage of our campaign - a grass roots movement to fight for a significant remain majorityin a #PeoplesVote. To that end we're holding a workshop session to get your ideas on issues such as setting up more local groups(for example in Telford and Ludlow) and how to engage the youth vote.
Come and join us over a drink - we're keen to hear your ideas
This is the final weekend before the crucial vote in Parliament. All across the country People’s Vote are organising a day of action. Come and join us if you can.
We will also be encouraging Mr Kawczynski’s constituents to email him telling him that we did not vote for this deal in 2016.
David Wilkinson the Director will be present for a live Q&A after the showing
Postcards from the 48% (2018, 110 mins, cert E) is an enjoyable and thoughtful documentary tour of Britain which builds a pretty much unarguable case for persisting in trying to overturn Brexit.
Tickets at £6 available from the Hive or phone 01743 234970
As we approach the crucial vote in Parliament and our MPs are seeking their constituents opinions we think it is important to impress on them the lack of support for Mrs May’s Deal. Come and join us if you can.
We will also be encouraging Mr Kawczynski’s constituents to write postcards to him telling him that we did not vote for this deal in 2016.
Mr Kawcyznski is holding a public meeting to consult with his constituents. Please go along and explain how we need a People’s Vote. The Brexit that the Conservative Government is threatening to deliver is nothing like what the majority of people in Shrewsbury voted for in 2016. It will damage this country in both the short term and for future generations. Our work over the last two and a half years shows that Shrewsbury has changed its mind.
Come along to the Old Post Office Pub on Milk Street and join us in writing letters to our local MP to demand his support for a People’s Vote. We will provide you with letter templates and writing materials. We believe that hand written letters in the mail are the most effective and now is the time to put maximum pressure on all MPs as the Brexit Deal or No Deal are put to Parliament in the next few weeks.
You have an opportunity to find out more about why the country needs a People’s Vote on the Brexit negotiations when former cabinet minister and peer, Lord Adonis addresses a public meeting which is being rescheduled after he had to divert to BBC Radio 4‘s Any Questions last week.
Open Britain Shrewsbury is pleased to arrange this revised date, which is now the second free public meeting in a series intended to inform and encourage debate as we all face the biggest constitutional decision of our generation in the coming months.
Lord Adonis will explain why it’s vital to support the People's Vote campaign to ensure that the government's Brexit proposals are put before the country, so that we, the people decide what future relationship we should have with the EU, once it is clear what the options are.
