Show the new Prime Minister, the country and the world that we want to stop the Brexit chaos.
We’ve had enough of politics as usual. Fixated on Brexit, our politicians have wasted the last three years. Only together, with Europe and the world, can we fix the huge issues that face us all, from the climate emergency, to schools, the NHS and the housing crisis.
We are proud of our country. We know we can do better than this. March for change.
Open Britain Shrewsbury are organising coaches from Shrewsbury.
If you’re travelling from Shrewsbury or Telford then read on…
The Shewsbury coaches will leave from Abbey Foregate car park at 07:00 sharp (with a pick-up at Telford Central Railway Station at 07:15). Please be there ready to board your coach no later than 06:45 (remember to allow time to buy a parking ticket from the machine, or get really organised and pay in advance using location code 740005 - the charge is £4 for the day). The bus stand is on the western edge of the car park.
To book your seats:
Make your payment into our Open Britain Shrewsbury bank account: sort code 20-08-64, account number 40019615. The charge is £20 per head (£10 for students). Please set the reference to your surname, initial, and number of seats booked (e.g. "SMITH J, 3").
Send an email to email@example.com confirming: your full name, the number of seats booked, the name and email addresses of all those in your party and your mobile phone number (this will allow us to keep in touch with you on the day). If you're a student, or if there are students in your party, please mention names and place of study. Say if you’d like to take advantage of the Telford pick up.
We will reply confirming your booking along with the number of your coach. Please make a note of this as you'll need it on arrival at the Abbey Foregate car park.
Please book your seats as soon as you possibly can - this will reduce our stress levels, allow us to honour our commitments to the coach company, and give us scope to book additional coaches if demand dictates (which we're confident it will).
We're encouraging students to join us. If you can afford it and if you feel so inclined, we would appreciate it if you could sponsor one by including a little extra in your payment. Any excess monies will be used to help fund future events.
There will be time for a comfort stop (aka wee break) on the way down - but there will also be loos on board.
The return coaches will depart from London at 17:00. Anticipated heavy traffic will obviously affect our arrival time back in Shrewsbury, but we're expecting to be back for 22:00.
One Last Thing: For Newbies
If you've not been on a big protest march before you need to know these things:
It's great fun. You'll be surrounded by people that share your values, all shouting their hearts out. It's a unique, uplifting and memorable experience.
Wear comfortable shoes and lots of layers. Bring plenty to drink and lots of snacks. If you plan to bring very young children along (and plenty do!) ear muffs are a good idea - whistles can be quite harsh on the ears.
Bring placards. Be creative. If you're not the creative type buy a big EU flag on the internet and put it on a long pole. Be visible.
Be patient. You'll spend a lot of time hanging around waiting for the march to start moving. Be ready to share conversations and laughs with people you've never met before. You'll go home with one and half million new friends.
